Barbara D’Agostino
Executive Director
Barbara D’Agostino is a seasoned healthcare executive and decision-maker with an emphasis on Seniors Housing and Long-Term Care. She was appointed Executive Director of Goodwin House Alexandria (GHA) in 2017, with key functions devoted to providing leadership, direction, management, performance improvements and initiatives, with overall responsibility for strategic vision and future enhancements of GHA. In supporting the goals and objectives of GHA and management team, she is happy spending her days working with the entire staff in keeping GHA an amazing place to reside and provide exceptional care.
Barbara’s commitment to serving seniors is supported by her active participation in the senior living field in general, including Board participation in the state affiliates with LeadingAge, the American Healthcare Association and The Beacon Board. Barbara served as President/Chair of LeadingAge DC and Treasurer and Secretary of the District of Columbia Health Care Association (DCHCA). She also was a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Administrators, and proud to have been recognized as the DCHCA Administrator of the Year in 2014. She is currently serving as Vice Chair of the Alexandria Commission on Aging as well as Co-Chair of the Alexandria Outreach Committee.
Barbara is a native of upstate New York and has worked in senior living for the past 30 years. Barbara fell in love with the senior living industry straight out of college when she landed a job as the Business Office Manager in a nursing home. She came to Goodwin House from The Army Distaff Foundation, Inc. in Washington, DC (a continuing care retirement community) where she served as Chief Operating Officer and earlier as the Health Services Administrator. This experience gave her a deep appreciation for how senior living care seeks to improve the quality of life of their residents, one day at a time.
Barbara is a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator in the Commonwealth of Virginia, the District of Columbia, Florida and Maryland. She holds a B.S. degree in Biology from Syracuse University and a Masters in Health Services Administration from The George Washington University.
Barbara and her husband Danny live in McLean, VA and enjoy spending time with family, traveling and scuba diving!
